Prez Bill opened the meeting promptly at 12:17 with a heartfelt rendition God Bless America. Immediately after, Reverend Chuck Watson said the prayer with a beautiful musical interlude thanks to Harriets' phone.
Our late arrivers for the meeting include Harry Snyder, Frank Mazza, Mike Toscano, Addie Schmidt and Jon Schwartz. Sergeant at Arms Jim fined them accordingly. I heard him comment to Mike that its a good thing that being late doesn't count against his 49 years of perfect attendance :-) We had 27 members in attendance, 3 guests and 1 speaker - we made our minimum. Thanks to everyone who took time out of their busy schedule!!!
Lunch was Butternut Squash Soup, followed by a Chicken Caesar Salad and a Chocolate Pumpkin Tart. I give it a rating of 4 Pitchers on the Molly Pitcher Food Scale of 0 to 10 Pitchers.
Guests: Marie, guest of Dr. Micale; Mary Watson, guest of Chuck Watson; Donnalyn Giegrich, guest of Tom Zapcic.
Fines: $77 in fines and Happy Dollars was collected today. Great Job Sergeant at Arms Jim! Robin was fined for NOT being in the paper this week, Chuck was fined for too many badges in the badge box, Ken Duffy was fined for an advertisement for Days Funeral Home. There were also allot of fines for no Rotary Pins or badges.
Birthdays/Anniversaries: Ken Duffy Anniversary, Harry Snyder Wives Birthday, Bill Donnelly Anniversary (Can you believe that Sue has put up with him for 30 years??)
Happy Dollars: Bill D. $30 for Anniversary; Harriet for Bill D. giving up his Birthday to go to the Vocational Assembly; Warren for Rotary Leadership Institute and all he learned; Ken Duffy $5 for 34 years of Marriage - he would have given more but Jim had already fined him a few times today!; Jon, who surprisingly said nothing about the Jets, but did mention that it must suck to be a Giant; Tom Zapcic $10 for Nick Michals.
Upcoming Dates to Remember: October 24th Bill will speak about the Food and Wine and Frank will speak about the Golf Outing. Tuesday Night Social is October 15th from 5:30 to 8PM at Molly Maquiers. Crop Walk is October 20th, Addie has enough volunteers. Canathon - Denise went to Tinton Falls and 7 members signed up to help us out.
Our Speaker was Dr. Jordan Kovacks, Board Certified Chiropractic Physician and Board Certified Bio Feedback Practitioner. Dr. Kovacs interest in Neuro-Feedback began as a result of his 2 1/2 year old son being diagnosed with pervasive developmental delay. Just about 20% of all children have some type of developmental disorder. Biofeedback is based in the fact that we are able to control brainwave patterns. Certain developmental disorders can be treated by teaching the child to control certain brainwave patterns. A cap is affixed to the head which communicates real time brainwave patterns to a computer. Parameters are set to the correct brainwave pattern (each parameter is dependent for a certain disorder), and once the child is able to transmit the proper brainwave pattern to the computer a movie plays. Similar to experiments done by Pavlov. Insurance may or may not cover the costs. Initial Eval is $125.00 and $90 for 45 minute follow up sessions. Biofeedback can be successful in treating ADHD, Anxiety, Hyperactivity, Insomnia and Chronic Pain.
Frank Mazza asked if Biofeedback could improve his golf game. Next week Ken Bruton will be speaking about National Write Your Congressman Campaign. I wonder if Frank will write to him for help too?
50/50: $45.00 won by Addie
