Speaker:   PDG Dick Isaacson graced us with his involvement with Shelter Box, which is a chest filled with survival equipment that Rotary buys basically to give out at large disasters throughout the world, as part of it’s relief program, and is by far the largest program of this type in the world.  Relief has been given to such countries as Myanmar, Haiti, Uganda, North Korea (via local trusted agencies), Kurdistan, Iraq and the Philippines. The box costs $1000 that includes training in setting up and use of the equipment.  Our district (7500) has thus far raised enough money to purchase approx. 280 boxes.  The box comes complete with cooking equipment, sleeping equipment, eating utensils, shelter consisting of a large tent which can house up to 10 people and stay in place for up to six months and withstand 120 mph winds.  It also comes with a simple water purification system that can last as long as 6 months and provide purified water in less than one minute.

a. It is official that we will be moving to the Navesink Country Club effective next week, July 10th.  Everybody was very excited about this and full club support was noted.  We will be given a lovely room with a storage area for our equipment.  Parking is onsite.  Thanks went out to the Venue Committee for their work in sorting out some 10 fine choices which included numerous phone calls, compilation of data and making visits to many of the places.  Navesink CC is a win-win for our Club and Navesink, and in the words of the baseball world, a home run!

b. Being that this is a private country club which has rules, we will be forwarded their dress code.  (Basically, no beach wear, jeans or hats inside).  Please respect their requirements at all times.

2. Being that this is our last meeting at the Molly, we collected $400 for the wait staff and asked Janice, Paul & Jessica to come in for the presentation and a big “thank you” which Denise did.  A standing ovation was given to them for all their years of excellent and flawless service to our Club.

3. The Two River Times published our scholarship recipients for which we appreciate.   We are hoping that the other papers will be good enough to follow in suit.
