Speaker: We were honored to have Roberta Van Anda, a Rumson historian, who spoke to us today, discussing people who lived in Rumson over the past 150 years and some of their accomplishments. She taught at RFH high school and Rumson Country Day School, also being the editor of the Rumson Borough Bulletin. She also discussed her book, Legendary Locals of Rumson
In short, she mentioned that some of the rich from NYC came to Rumson for summer vacationing, developed farms and country estates, etc. This caused the need for small businesses to establish which were necessary to supply these rich folks and their properties with goods and services. Politicians, entrepreneurs, entertainers, financiers, chefs, scientists, brewers, legislators, philanthropists and jurists were, and to this day, are some of the folks who have gravitated to Rumson. Children are well nurtured by the excellent schools and parents enjoy a lifestyle of sports, culture and a high standard of living in this legendary town.
50/50 of $25 – and the jackpot was not won and is still available to next week 50/50 winner.

Administrative action – we talked about reviewing revised Article X of the By-laws, which deals with the method of electing members. We decided to email all club members to review the proposed changes before voting.
Speaker: John Cody - After he had retired from an investment firm, his son John launched Planet Shred, LLC, purely a mobile document destruction firm (DDF), and asked John to come on board as Sales Director. In 2010, they launched the second phase of their business plan: Planet Shred Records Management LLC. John’s company shreds confidential information which has the choice of being destroyed or maintained, depending upon client needs. It is less expensive to employ a DDF than to do it in house, especially if a large company. One would have a locked container with papers to be shredded followed by a certificate from the DDF that they destroyed the papers. He also talked about scanning vs. storing paper records, depending upon the amount and frequency of use by the client.
50/50 of $20 went to Bill Donnelly
