Hi there boys and girls. Did you miss me? Well, the lovely Barbara Mullins is glad to see me back anyway. Didn’t she do a great job with the Cogs while I was in FL? Don’t you think she should do it all the time? Wouldn’t that be great?
The first meeting of our new Prez went as well as could be expected. It is going to be a long year. In any case, we sang, pledged and Bill S. returned thanks. Bill, it was a nice prayer. After some two hours of prior training, Prez Bill got through the 4-Way test OK.
Lunch was the other white meet with the usual and a crème Brulee for dessert. I would have happily had a second, except Harriet got to it first.
The Prez started his year off with two pretty good Rotarian jokes. I don’t remember them, but at the time I thought they were pretty good. He also brought back singing and has threatened to do that all this year. Boy are we lucky. Our only hope is that Teddie can play louder.
Harriet brought a guest with her, Chris Cittadino from Signs by Tomorrow. Some guy named Ward something was also with us from some place down south.
The only birthday was Jim Mullevey’s on the 3rd. Jim opened his wallet, took out $2 and proceeded to put it back in his wallet. What a Sgt.-at-Arms.
Jim thought it appropriate for Prez Bill to contribute a fine for not wearing socks. Bill paid in quarters that were passed around the room all day. Probably next week it will be in dimes, then pennies. Jim also fined all the officers of the club to start their year.
Happy dollars were contributed by Harriet, Barb, Myself, Chuck, Bill, Addie, Frank, and Don. Warren gave the Foundation $100 for I believe the birth of his second grandson. Thanks Warren and Congratulations.
Announcements included a reminder of the “Rotary after hours” at Molly Maguire’s on Tuesday, the 16th. Prez Bill announced that the first Board meeting would be on the 24th, but he didn’t know where. The golf Tournament is Monday, the 29th. August 16th is the RB picnic at the track, and gentlemen are required to wear jackets. The District is holding a picnic on August 18th. More about that as it gets closer. Finally, the District Governor’s visit is September 5th.
Hey people, final push on the Golf outing. We need to get those raffle tickets sold, and get silent auction prizes. Let’s make an effort to really do a great job this year so Frank won’t scold us anymore.
Steve handed out the perfect attendance pins to the club. No, John Perri, you didn’t get one again this year. Some impressive numbers are, however, Mike with 49 years, Bill S. for 38 years, Joe G. for 36 years and Nick and Lou for 34 years. I counted 16 members received pins. Good, not great, but good.
We had an interesting program on cyber security. They indicated that businesses are not protected against this type of theft by any banking laws to receive reimbursementof amounts stolen. Apparently individuals are but businesses aren’t.
They indicated that there were four types of security breaches that could attack our systems. Data Breach, Denial of service, Identity Theft, and Cyber Theft were the types mentioned, and the gentlemen were talking about Cyber Theft.
Someone won the 50-50. I have no idea who it was nor how much it was. I can tell you for certain that it wasn’t me.
See y’all next week. TTFN.

Small crowd. Small, small crowd. Already the effects of Prez Bill taking over are starting to be felt. Let’s try to forget the differences you have had in the past with Bill, and come out and support Rotary.
In any case, we sang America, and pledged. The Prez looked around the room and suggested I return thanks. People, I’m not sure the food was properly blessed, nor the cooks nor the servers either, but I tried. Again, we got through the 4-way test without a hitch.
The luncheon menu consisted hanger steak with mushrooms, the normal accoutrements, and soft ice cream. It didn’t start out being soft but that is the way it was served.
We had a visiting Rotarian from Asbury Park, Dr. Amy Pardoe. Amy brought along a young student, Jill Villany, who had attended RYLA a few weeks ago. Nice to have both of them.
We celebrated Tom Minnaugh’s birthday and Robin and Jim’s anniversary. The singing was indescribable.
The fines, as usual, were set ups. Jim fined me, I think, for being there. He then fined Tom M. for being absent last week when perfect attendance pins were passed out, and Tom was awarded one. The loud table in the rear was fined for being loud and having fun, and finally, Frank and Prez Bill got clipped for wearing the same type of saddle shoes. Hey Guys, those did go out with bobby sox.
Not a lot of Happy $$$. Bill D. started off for Addie and the “Rotary After Hours” and for being at the District’s Installation Dinner. He should have been happy; he got to sit with me at both occasions. Dr. Amy gave a dollar for the great picnic coming up Sunday for Asbury Parks Rotary, and finally, Mike D. gave money because every week, Bill D. gets fined.
The calendar is on the website but as a reminder; the Board Meeting is on 7-24, fixing the golf baskets takes place on 7-29, and the tournament is on 7-29. Let’s give one more big push to get gift cards, and sell raffle tickets.
The Prez did a push for members to attend the RLI to learn more about Rotary. He handed out the list of locations and dates. In our area, King of Prussia is on 10-5 and Bridgewater is on 9-28. The club will pick up the cost for any member to attend.
The speaker for the meeting was Mario Corletti, from the Price Law Group. Mario is a case manager for claims arising from the flood damage when the insurance companies are not responding. His firm is a national firm that employs specialist to assist in obtaining the proper amount of settlement when there is a claim. When a public adjuster, like Harry, can’t get any further with the companies, the claimant can call on Mario’s firm to deal with, and possible litigate the claim against the company.
The only Insurance companies he noted that were difficult to deal with were Allstate and Selective. He also put in a plug for USAA as being one of the best to deal with. Interesting program.
OK, I got this right, this week. The 50-50 winner was Prez Bill, and he took home $25. Next week he will be fined $25.
TTFN, See y’all next week.

Doesn’t it seem strange when the new Prez of the Club wins the 50-50 each week? This week it was $20. Last week I think it was $25. I suggest that none of us buy tickets next week, and let Bill win back half his own money.
What would you expect the Molly to serve with that classical Italian dish, Chicken Parm? Right you are, Mashed potatoes and veggies. It was, however, finished with a raspberry pyramid.
Our favorite Sgt.-at-Arms assessed fines to Bill D, Me, Robin, and Chuck for some silly thing that made no sense. He then fined Don because Don gave Liz a bad time at the B of D meeting. Barb M. was also clipped for her comment about our Prez and finally, Tom M. was fined for missing his perfect attendance award. Jim M asked at the B of D meeting if any of the Directors thought he was fining too much. Not that you care Jim, but I do. I’ve been clipped every week since returning from FL.
B Days and A Days. Jon Schwartz has a birthday on July 30th and Tom Mimnaugh’s anniversary is also that day. As always, we sang.
Happy $$$ started with Jon giving for his great trip and admitted to this being his 60th birthday. I can’t believe that anyone that age would still be showing his underwear in commercials. Tony, Liz, Ken, and Jim all gave for the great Board Meeting. Don’t any of these people have a life? Gail gave for her grandson’s 6th birthday and Prez Bill gave for his granddaughter’s 8th birthday. Finally, Tom M. gave for his 30 years of happy marriage. Anyone wonder how many “happy” years his wife might admit to? Anyway, that was it for Happy $$$.
Out speakers for the meeting were Mary Jo Kenny and Mark Steward, from the Twin Lights Historical Society. I thought it was a very interesting program, and I thank Clark for arranging for these people to be with us.
Mark talked about the five important firsts that occurred at Twin Lights. It was the first lighthouse to use the Fresnel lenses in this Country in 1841. Most of us know that Marconi received the first off shore radio transmission at Twin Lights. It was the first lifesaving station in the country and the Army tested radar there during World War II. Finally, it was the first official use of the Pledge of Allegiance, at a ceremony in 1892. Someone in the audience suggested that Nick was there at the ceremony.
The Twin Lights accommodates some eight to ten thousand visitors per MONTH. That’s hard to believe. By the way, the Park Service only has about one and a half employees at Twin Lights with the remaining duties being carried out by the volunteers. That is what Mark and Marry Jo would like us to do - volunteer to help out at this important historical landmark, right here in our area.
TTFN, see y’all next week.
