New beginnings:

Today was our new President’s first full day on the job and the consensus is… He did great!

Darren kicked off the meeting in the traditional way with song, pledge, test and prayer. (thanks Mr. Saloukas) He then went right into his announcements, with the first one being, we will start and end on time within one hour! Darren said he was a stickler for punctuality. So, in true Rotary fashion, he started the meeting at 12:17 pm and ended promptly at 1:39 pm! Darren went into some detail about the ideas he would like to see to fruition. Aside from the meeting format change he would like to move the location for the 8/24/17 meeting which was scheduled for the evening to a location TBD. He would like to form a committee to assist the Prez Elect with finding and booking speakers for the year and beyond. On the topic of programs, he would like to see members scheduled to speak about themselves and their businesses. He asked Chris Ryan and Erik Anderson to screen the possibility of doing a Casino Night to raise funds for the club/foundation. He asked Jay Schwartz to consider the details of holding a football pool for the same end game. Addie gave an update on the golf outing silent auction.

The lunch menu was as follows:

Mini Iceberg Wedge Salad

Char-Grilled Sliced Flank Steak

Cherry Pie

Ken as the new (and slightly less competent) Sgt. At Arms made his debut with a few guests and visitors. We had Paul Gengler from the evening club join us today along with the beautiful and talented Susan Donnelly! We were all thrilled that she left Bill at home today. Sue is our new recording secretary. Ken happily only had to fine 4 members today and all for being late. The Schwartz team couldn’t find the “car to their keys” and the Chris Ryan missed the cut off by 45 seconds, which is still worth a Rotary buck! Then Mr. Late himself (Robe Sanders) showed up for a cold lunch.

Darren read out the Birthday’s after we sang to them. (I blame the Sgt. At Arms) They were read as follows:

Happy Dollars were given by:

Addie Harriet

Joe

Mike Toscano - $50.00 to the Endowment Fund

Doug

Jon

Jay

Bill S.

Program was given by members of the T. Thomas Fortune Foundation. Materials and handouts can be requested by email Ken Scaggs at Ken@thekerragency.com
